KBA Completes Two Churches

KBA Construction Company of Las Vegas has announced the completion of two churches in Southern Nevada. The 5,600-square-foot Our Lady of Wisdom Byzantine Catholic Church, located at Lindell Road and O’Bannon Drive, is the first Byzantine Catholic Church to be constructed in the Las Vegas Valley. KBA also built St. James the Apostle Catholic Church at 1920 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., replacing a 60-year old building that served more than 300 families.

Lifecare Retirement Community Planned

Presbyterian Homes & Services of the West, a non-profit organization, has finalized the purchase of over 26 acres near Alexander Road and I-215 in Las Vegas. The $6 million purchase completes a 30-acre parcel that will be the site of The Springs at Lone Mountain, Nevada’s first non-profit lifecare retirement community. The Springs will be a planned, full-service community for seniors, with 200 residential apartments and 40 villas, a 43,000-square-foot Town Square and a healthcare center that will include 40 assisted-living apartments and 60 skilled nursing accommodations. New Life Management & Development, Inc., a nationwide developer of senior housing communities, is developer and marketer for the project.

Two Timeshare Projects set for Las Vegas

Resort Magic, a division of USA Investment Partners, recently unveiled plans to add a 40-story tower adjacent to the recently renovated Royal Hotel property on the Las Vegas Strip. The new tower will add 426 vacation ownership units, with two floors of timeshare suites and two floors of 10,000-square-foot, full-ownership penthouses. Construction of the tower is scheduled to begin in October 2002, with the first phase slated for completion early in 2004. Diamond Resorts International is planning a 30-story, four-tower timeshare resort on Harmon Avenue on the site of the old Shark Club, adjacent to its Polo Towers resort. The new $240 million resort, to be named The Chateau, will house 212 villas in each of its four towers. The villas will range from 872 square feet to 2,380 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in 2004, with an estimated 14-month buildout for the first tower.

Peccole Developing Two Retail Centers

Peccole Nevada Corporation is developing two retail centers near the intersection of Fort Apache and West Charleston Boulevard. Rampart Commons, a 78,000-square-foot development on the northwest corner, is scheduled to open in May 2002. Kitchell Contractors is serving as the general contractor for the center, which contains PF Chang’s China Bistro restaurant, and will feature an upscale mix of tenants, including Pottery Barn, Chico’s, Capezio, Banana Republic and Gap. Burke & Associates has been chosen to be the general contractor for Crossroad Commons, which will be located on the southeast corner of the intersection behind the Claimjumper Restaurant. Anchors at the 160,000-square-foot project will be a Barnes & Noble superstore, Sports Chalet and Whole Foods, a high-end grocer making its first entry into the Nevada marketplace. The center will also include 36,000 square feet of in-line retail space and room for specialty restaurants. The first tenants are expected to open their doors this fall.
