Investors push gasoline prices higher
When you hear why local gasoline prices have jumped 20 cents in the last month, it might be nearly enough to make you wish for a downbeat corporate earnings report or two. You can't blame surging demand for the price spikes, said Michael Geeser, a spokesman for travel club AAA. Consumers are using less fuel than they did a year ago, and AAA's numbers forecast a 1 percent drop in travel in the Intermountain West region this Memorial Day weekend when compared with the same holiday in 2008.
