NEVADA'S ECONOMY: Consumers spend less, revenue plummets
Nevada posted its 10th straight month of double-digit declines in taxable sales in August, as a major federal incentive to boost car sales failed to drive consumer purchases into growth territory. Wednesday's numbers from the state Department of Taxation showed that Nevada's businesses rang up $3.1 billion in sales in August, down 24.1 percent from $4.1 billion in August 2008.
