LAS VEGAS – The Commercial Alliance Las Vegas (CALV) is hosting its annual commercial real estate symposium on Sept. 27, featuring the latest installment in its popular series of discussions with industry leaders about the days “when cocktail napkins were contracts.”
CALV is hosting its 12th annual Commercial Alliance Educational Symposium from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Gold Coast hotel-casino for commercial real estate professionals in Nevada and neighboring states.
In addition to educational sessions where real estate professionals can earn continuing education credits to help them maintain their real estate licenses, members of the media and the public are invited to attend the annual luncheon and panel discussion. As in past years, the luncheon discussion theme is “Las Vegas Real Estate Legends – When Cocktail Napkins Were Contracts.” It continues a tradition of featuring longtime local real estate legends and industry veterans discussing how the local industry and community have evolved over the decades.
This year’s event features Ric Truesdell, the president, principal, and broker of the Cornerstone Company, a local commercial real estate firm he founded in 1985. A Las Vegas native and a graduate of UNLV, he has been involved in the local commercial real estate market for four decades. He has also served on the Las Vegas Planning Commission and been involved in the development of the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, among other significant local developments.
The symposium will include morning and afternoon classes taught by nationally known commercial real estate instructors. For instance, Dr. Mark G. Dotzour will teach a morning keynote class titled “The Economic Outlook for Investors, Decision-Makers, and Taxpayers.” Dotzour is a real estate economist who has served for 18 years as chief economist of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University.
In the afternoon, former CALV President Soozi Jones Walker, CCIM, SIOR, will teach a course called “Commercial Contracts – Do the Forms Really Matter?” She will also moderate the luncheon discussion with Truesdell.
In addition, instructor Steve Cannariato, CCIM, MET, CDEI, will teach a course called “Financing Commercial Real Estate Investments.”
Real estate professionals can earn up to six hours of continuing education credits by attending the classes. Participants will also be treated to a continental breakfast.
On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Participants can register in advance or at the event. All-day admission is $99 for CALV and GLVAR members or $149 for others. For more information or to register for the symposium, download the registration form at www.CALV.org, or call the CALV at (702) 784-5050.
