RENO, Nev. –Holland & Hart LLP welcomed attorney Sarah Bordelon—a nationally-renowned environmental and natural resources attorney—to its Reno office, July 1. Bordelon previously worked in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
As part of the nation’s largest environmental practices, Bordelon helps Holland & Hart clients acquire environmental permits for natural resource and developmental projects and defend permits for challenged proposals.
“As the economy in northern Nevada grows, so does the need for infrastructure and resources,” said Jim Newman, Administrative Partner of the Reno office. “Sarah represents the future of our community and adds another layer to economic development and business growth in northern Nevada.”
Bordelon earned her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University of Law. She brings more than 15 years of legal experience, with emphasis on environmental and natural resources, federal rulemakings, and environmental compliance and enforcement.
Previously, Bordelon worked as an attorney-advisor on the Department of Interior’s Board of Land Appeals reviewing an array of land use decision appeals made by the Bureau of Land Management. She has also clerked for the Honorable Procter Hug, Jr., on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Bordelon has worked on cases involving significant federal environmental statutes such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Land Policy and Management Act, endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Particular client results include a series of matters on the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf where Sarah provided legal advice on permitting multiple offshore exploration and development programs, and successfully defended multiple permit challenges in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, federal district court, and Environmental Appeals Board.
Sarah has nine published cases and presented at the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation in 2014 and 2015.
