Scholarships for Excellence in Academics, Work and Community
Are Always on the Menu at McDonald’s
Las Vegas – Nevada State College student Jaclyn Southam, a McDonald’s restaurant employee at 2217 N. Green Valley Pkwy in Henderson, NV, was recently awarded a $2,500 McDonald’s National Employee Scholarship Award. Southam is among several McDonald’s restaurant employees nationwide selected to receive this honor for their outstanding employee contributions, scholastic achievements and community involvement.
“McDonald’s continues to provide me with opportunities to learn and grow,” said Southam. “This restaurant offers flexible hours, which allow me to work my schedule around my academic and other responsibilities. The experience will serve me in my college classes and beyond.”
Southam, who joined the McDonald’s restaurant team in December 2012, is currently majoring in psychology at Nevada State College after receiving her associate degree from the College of Southern Nevada in 2013. She hopes to pursue graduate studies in genetic counseling and genetics research. James Vance, owner/operator of nine McDonald’s in Southern Nevada recommended Southam to receive this scholarship.
“Jaclyn exemplifies the qualities of a true leader,” said James Vance. “She has done an outstanding job both in the restaurant and in school, using lessons from both to reach her goals.”
Since 2002, Southern Nevada McDonald’s owner/operators have contributed $1.7 million to the Ronald McDonald House Charities scholarship program. Our charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities, offer a number of scholarship opportunities for customers and employees alike.
