Food and merchandise vendor spots still available for event
RENO — Experience Polynesian and Asian food, music, and culture during the two-day, inaugural Pacifica Festival, Aug. 20-21 at the Sands Regency Casino Hotel.
“The Polynesian and Asian population haven’t had a big voice in Reno, but we have a meaningful community in the city,” said Chris Luke, president of the Pacifica Community Organization, the event’s organizer. “We wanted to create a gathering and community event that celebrates our heritage and culture.”
The two-day festival will include Polynesian and Asian-Pacific entertainment and music, arts and crafts, educational demonstrations and food and merchandise vendors.
“It’s going to be very family friendly and mostly free, so everyone can come out and enjoy it,” Luke said.
The event’s main stage will feature free performances from many island reggae musicians including Benjeezy, Brittany Straw, CRSB, Lila, Mango Kingz, Wakane, W.I.L.L, and other local artists.
The event takes place 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 20, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 21. Sponsors include Sands Regency Casino Hotel, Amplified Entertainment, Aloha Shack, Reno Bighorns, Ace Studios, Pink Butterfly Designs, K&S Wood Burning, and Pivot Partners, LLC.
Food and merchandise vendor booths are still available, and prices start at $400. Information booths will be available for $200.
