Capital Insurance Group (CIG) has teamed up with Special Olympics Nevada as an annual partner and the presenting sponsor for the 2016 Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games, which brings over 290 athletes to this culminating championship for aquatics and track and field.
“The entire CIG team is excited to partner with Special Olympics Nevada, and help provide a great experience and open doors for fun, sportsmanship and friendly competition to those in our community who otherwise may lack the opportunity to participate,” said Arne Chatterton, CEO of Capital Insurance Group. “Supporting local charities and organizations always has been important to us, and we’re happy to join the Special Olympics Nevada team in providing such an invaluable program to so many.”
Special Olympics provides athletic opportunities to children and adults with intellectual disabilities with the goal of instilling the confidence needed to succeed in life. The partnership allows CIG to assist Special Olympics in providing athletes with a fun and rewarding experience through donations, volunteer team support and participation at the 2016 Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games opening ceremony.
“We are always excited to introduce new partners to the spirit of Special Olympics. Summer Games is the premier event for our Nevada athletes, and CIG employees will play an essential role through their corporate giving and volunteerism,” said David Solo, CEO and President for Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada. “We are thrilled that their corporate culture values supporting local organizations. We thank CIG for understanding the significance our program brings to their community.”
The two-day Special Olympics Nevada Summer Games will kick off Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at Reno High School Foster Field with the opening ceremony, including the traditional parade of athletes, arrival of the Flame of Hope and lighting of the Special Olympics caldron. The games will begin on Saturday, June 4 with the aquatic competitions taking place at University of Nevada, Reno and the track and field games at Reno High School.
CIG also was the presenting sponsor for the 2016 Special Olympics Northern California Schools Partnership Program Monterey Track and Field Meet, which took place at Monterey Peninsula College on Friday, April 29. Approximately 500 student-athletes from K-12 Monterey public schools participated.
