Outdoor country fun is back at the Mountain’s Edge Master Planned Community with the return of Country in the Park on Saturday, May 7 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Now in its 10th year, the free concert and festival will be headlined by country music favorite Joe Nichols and feature rising country star Brett Young. Local country rock band Thrillbilly Deluxe will kick off the show in the community’s amphitheater in Exploration Park, located at 9700 S. Buffalo Drive.
The event, presented by Mountain’s Edge and Las Vegas’ new country leader 95.5 The Bull, also will feature a beer garden, food vendors, booths, exhibits, kid’s activities, and more. Picnic baskets, chairs, blankets and well-behaved leashed pets are welcome. Alcohol, coolers and glass are not allowed in the park.
In addition, attendees can explore the 80-acre park’s Old Western village, Native American play structures, archeological dig area, splash pad, picnic areas, and the 2,846-foot-tall Exploration Peak with hiking and cycling trails and panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley.
Nichols brings 13 years of country music chart success to Country in the Park. He has 14 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, including No. 1 singles “Brokenheartsville,” “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off,” “Gimmie That Girl” and “Sunny and 75.” Nichols released his latest single titled “Freaks Like Me” in anticipation of his next album.
Rolling Stones has already taken notice of California native Young, naming him as one of its “Artists You Need to Know.” The former college pitcher creates music with soulful vocals and heartfelt lyrics derived from a myriad of personal experience. Previously released recordings have gathered a cult following and placement on television shows including “Chrisley Knows Best” (USA), “Real World” (MTV) and “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” (E!). Young released an EP titled Brett Young in February.
Thrillbilly Deluxe will take the stage from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by Young from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., and culminating with Nichols from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Times are subject to change.
