LAS VEGAS – The Mercer, a resort-style, 175-unit apartment complex planned in the desirable southwest area of the Las Vegas Valley, adjacent to Summerlin, will officially break ground on Friday, January 15, 2016.
The Mercer will provide discerning guests with luxury apartment living options as Las Vegas’ demand for apartment inventory grows.
The development includes 144, one and two bedroom apartments ranging in size from 711 to 1,172 square feet. Additionally, a series of 31 townhouse and penthouse units will also be available, with floor plans ranging from 1,256 to 2,047 square feet.
“It’s an incredible location and we’ve wanted to put a top notch development on the property for several years,” said Wayne Laska, owner of Las Vegas-based developer StoryBook Homes. “The time is right to get this project off the ground and to offer this combination of location, amenities and views.”
Longtime Las Vegans will recall The Mercer was first announced in 2006 as a high-end condominium project located at the northwest corner of Tropicana and Grand Canyon Drive. The recession forced the original owners into foreclosure in 2009. Laska purchased the 5-acre property in 2012 with plans to resurrect the project, keeping the name and adding his own concept.
As Las Vegas has recovered from the turmoil of the great recession, StoryBook Homes will resurrect this project back into a beautiful asset to the community.
The four-story apartment community will offer comfort and convenience with special attention placed on amenities sought by increasingly savvy renters. The Mercer will include a 7,000 square foot clubhouse, featuring an exercise facility with state-of-the-art equipment, a yoga room, theater, game and club room, conference and business/work amenities. Central to the clubhouse area is an indoor-outdoor patio that opens to a resort-style pool complete with cabanas, spa, barbecue, fireplace and lounging areas, plus an additional 24,000 square feet of courtyard area for tenants to play in.
The Mercer’s fourth-floor area includes a private rooftop terrace for tenants, perfect for relaxing and entertaining, and appointed with lounge chairs, couches, cabanas and fire pits. Guests will have unobstructed views of the Las Vegas Strip to the East and the Spring Mountains to the West.
Residents will enjoy a secure and enclosed underground parking structure, elevators to each level and eventually, onsite retail businesses on the property’s ground floor.
The Mercer is expected to be ready for occupancy in the first quarter of 2017.
The Principals of StoryBook Homes, Wayne and Catherine Laska, pride themselves on providing families with quality homes and superior customer service. Just as important as building family homes, the Laskas also work to build a stronger community by donating their time, efforts and financial resources to a number of worthy nonprofit organizations in Southern Nevada.
