LAS VEGAS – Steve Arcana, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Golden Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:GDEN), has been appointed to the ALS Association Nevada Chapter Board of Directors. Arcana will be spearheading local fundraising efforts for the organization, specifically reaching out to the hospitality industry to increase awareness of the local chapter.
“The board is honored to have Steve assist us going forward,” said April Mastroluca, executive director of the Nevada association. “Steve has proven himself to be committed to every organization he has served, giving with both his time and resources. We know his contribution will be a great asset to our organization as we continue to grow.”
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects neurons (nerve cells) in the brain and the spinal cord. Eventually, people with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis. There is no cure and no life-prolonging treatments for the disease.
“I’m excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve on the ALS board,” Arcana said. “My mother passed away from ALS and I know others who are afflicted with this horrible disease. While I am passionate about any organization I’m involved with in the community, my work with ALS is near and dear to my heart.”
Arcana has served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Golden Entertainment, Inc. since the merger last summer of Sartini Gaming, Inc. (the parent company of the Golden Gaming group) with a subsidiary of Lakes Entertainment, Inc. He has been with the company for 12 years. Prior to his work with Golden Entertainment, Arcana held several executive positions with Station Casinos, LLC.
He presently serves on the board of the Las Vegas Business Academy. He also works with his wife, Dana, the founder of Paws for the Cause, an organization she founded 20 years ago that fights for the rights of homeless animals. Paws for the Cause hosts several animal adoption events annually.
