Republic Services Opens Largest Residential Recycling Center in North America
Republic Services, Inc. has recently opened a new residential recycling center that is both the largest and smartest of its kind. The center is capable of processing two million pounds of material per day or 70 tons per hour and is expected to double recycling capacity in Southern Nevada. The center features several advanced recycling technologies including five optical sorters which use 2D and 3D technologies to make material separation decisions in milliseconds. In addition, the center was built with sustainable design featuring 1,776 solar energy panels on the roof and low-flow water fixtures with over 75 percent of the 110,000 square-foot building comprised of recycled or remanufactured steel.
NDOT Launches Reno-Area Traffic Study
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is set to begin a traffic study to identify future interstate and other transportation improvements to the Reno-Sparks area. The study is expected to help project future traffic volumes and identify infrastructure needs through 2040. In addition, the study will help identify targeted improvements to Interstate 80, Interstate 580 and U.S. 395.
Northern Nevada Medical Center Receives Award for Stroke Care
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has recognized the Northern Nevada Medical Center (NNMC) with the “Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus” Quality Achievement Award. The achievement recognizes NNMC’s Primary Stroke Center for its standards of stroke care.
