Food drive benefits the Food Bank of Northern Nevada
RENO – As the sponsor of the Can the Spartans food drive, Nevada State Bank partnered with Nevada Athletics and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to collect 2,928 pounds of food and $2,244 in cash donations. This effort will help the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to be able to distribute more than 9,000 meals during the holidays. The donation is the result of contributions from bank colleagues and the community.
“Nevada State Bank sincerely thanks our colleagues, clients and the community for their generosity in supporting this annual event,” said Debby Herman, senior vice president and northern Nevada region manager for Nevada State Bank. “We would also like to give a special thank you to the UNR fraternities for joining together to support this drive. Together with those students and the rest of the community, we made a positive impact.”
The Can the Spartans food drive, sponsored by Nevada State Bank, is part of an ongoing effort between Nevada Athletics and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to create a “One Hunger-Free Community, One Pack.” Each month, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides assistance to more than 103,000 people through its network of more than 135 partner agencies. More than half of the clients it serves are children and seniors.
“We’re so grateful for the generous support that Nevada State Bank, Nevada Athletics and Wolf Pack fans offer our neighbors in need,” said Jocelyn Lantrip, director of marketing for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. “It would be impossible for us to meet the increased needs at this time of year without this valuable support.”
Results of the Can the Spartans food drive were announced during the Nov. 14 Wolf Pack football game against the San Jose State Spartans. For more information on the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, visit www.fbnn.org.
