It will be double the fun at this year’s Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday as the free event is combined with the grand opening of Huckleberry Park, the third park in the fast-selling Providence Master Planned Community. What it means for the public is more fun, more activities, more space and more time to enjoy the event with family and friends.
Ice Cream Sunday and the Huckleberry Park celebration will be Sunday, Sept. 27 at the new park and annual event’s new home, located at 10325 Farm Rd., just off the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way. The grand opening ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will include a special dedication to fallen police officer and Providence resident Igor Soldo. Other festivities will continue until 2 p.m.
The event will feature free frozen treats from Meadow Gold, ice cream-eating contests, bounce houses, a petting zoo, booths and more. It is presented by Sunny 106.5, Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowners Association and Meadow Gold.
With a name inspired by the classic Mark Twain character “Huckleberry Finn,” Huckleberry Park embraces the small town Americana ambiance that resonates throughout the Providence master plan. The neighborhood park has large and small dog parks, a multi-use events field, full court basketball, outdoor stage area, swings, picnic area, shade ramada and other spaces designated for future amenities.
Attendees are invited to bring new or gently used books for the nonprofit Spread the Word Nevada, which promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience the magic of books.
