LAS VEGAS – The PENTA Building Group, a leading commercial contractor, announced that the month of April, 2015 marks its 15-year anniversary. Over the course of its 15 years, PENTA has grown to over 160 full-time employees serving clients out of six offices in Nevada, California, Arizona and Oklahoma.
“Our growth is a testament to our commitment to safe work sites and strong relationships with our employees, clients, designers and subcontractors,” said PENTA’s Chief Operating Officer John Cannito. “Today we are celebrating what talented people can accomplish when they work together to a common goal. We’re not celebrating our achievements as much as we are celebrating our employees, clients, and all the people who have worked hard to make PENTA successful.”
Formed in 2000 by Jeff Ehret, Ken Alber and Blake Anderson, the firm’s story includes thriving through two market downturns that resulted in the firm becoming a stronger, more diverse organization. PENTA’s portfolio includes more than $4 billion in hospitality, gaming, entertainment, education, healthcare, retail, industrial and office/commercial projects in multiple states.
“We have had unbelievable clients that have given us outstanding opportunities and put their faith in us to deliver on their goals,” said PENTA’s President Jeff Ehret. “And we have reached this milestone because our performance continues to earn their trust.”
“We have been fortunate to have had outstanding talent that has worked for us this past 15 years,” said Glen Maxwell, vice president of preconstruction services. “And it’s our commitment to them, the heart and soul of our firm, that translates into high-quality projects for our clients. Honestly our great work, the reason we are still growing after 15 years, is a result of our focus on our employees.
“We have been fortunate to have great subcontractors and consultant partners over the years. We could not have achieved this milestone without their willingness to collaborate with us.”
PENTA’s recently completed projects include the renovation of the former Las Vegas City Hall into the new Zappos headquarters, as well as construction of Strip venues such as the Omnia Nightclub Las Vegas at Caesars Palace.
Currently, PENTA is in progress with significant projects throughout the country including the multipurpose, 20,000-seat Las Vegas Arena (a joint venture project with Hunt Construction), numerous tribal projects in California, Arizona, and Oklahoma, the renovation of Northern Nevada’s historic Cal Neva Resort, a 54-story, high-rise condominium tower in downtown Los Angeles (a joint venture project with Pankow Builders) and a design-build renovation on the University of Southern California’s campus.
The firm’s accolades include recently being awarded two 2015 Spotlight Awards from NAIOP Southern Nevada for its conversion of the former Sahara into the SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino and for its 220,000-square-foot expansion of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America International Training Center. It has been ranked in the top 100 Construction Manager at Risk firms and top 400 Construction firms by the national construction-industry publication ENR, and received numerous safe site awards recognizing its commitment to job safety.
But the one thing we are most proud of is our continued commitment to safety. Though 15 years of feature projects and awards, PENTA measures success a little differently. What is truly important has to do with people. First and foremost, that everyone involved in a PENTA project (clients, employees, subcontractors, the public, etc.) goes home as healthy as when they came to work that morning. And secondly, PENTA continuously strives to build outstanding relationships with its employees, clients, partners, and communities.
“Our President and Co-Founder Jeff Ehret sums it up like this,” Maxwell said. “We are not just a company that builds building; we are a people working together within a company that happens to build buildings.”
