SolarCity Expands to Reno
SolarCity, a rooftop solar power provider, has announced a move to statewide operations. In addition to the work the company already does in Southern Nevada, SolarCity will now serve Reno, Sparks and the Carson City area. The company plans to open a Reno operations center in April and expects to hire over 30 local staff in the next few months.
Comprehensive Cancer Centers Adds Pulmonary Division
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) has added a pulmonary division to the practice. As of the first of June, the Lung Center of Nevada will join CCCN as the new division and will consist of two nurse practitioners and five physicians. The center will primarily serve patients with lung and bronchus cancer as well as those with sleep disorders.
NDOT Works to Develop Freight Plan
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced plans to develop a Nevada Freight Plan. NDOT evaluated the 110 million approximate tons of freight commerce that is being transported statewide and is partnering with consultants to create a plan that will streamline and improve freight in the future. Transportation and freight stakeholders from across the state will come together to develop potential projects intended to enhance Nevada freight movement and commerce. The plan will be unique in aggressively seeking out economic opportunities tied to freight.
City National Corporation to be Acquired by Royal Bank of Canada
City National Corporation and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) have come to a definitive agreement by which Royal Bank will acquire the outstanding shares of City National, thereby merging the two companies. City National will retain their current chairman and CEO who will also be responsible for RBC’s wealth management unit in the United States.
Southern Nevada Home Prices Up Just Over 8 Percent for the Year
Despite a seasonal slowdown and decrease in the number of homes changing hands, statistics compiled by the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors (GLVAR) have shown an 8.1 percent increase in median home prices sold for the month of January.
