The Southern Nevada International Code Council (SNICC) awarded their “2014 Industry Person of the Year” to Michael R. Gentille (President of PCNA Consulting Group) at their Annual Officer Installation Banquet at the Red Rock Country Club on Saturday January 10th, 2015.
The award recognizes Gentille’s service in 2014 as Chairman of the 2018 IBC Building Code Review Committee, a joint committee sponsored by SNICC consisting of local government building officials and industry leaders to review and modify future IBC Building Code provisions. The local 2018 IBC Code Committee was charged to ensure that regionally specific code amendments were drafted into the base code of the “yet-to-be-published” national 2018 IBC code.
When asked about his work on the 2018 Code Committee, Gentille said; “I am pleased that my previous participation in other code committees, both nationally and in other states, helped to provide our Southern Nevada ICC committee with a more comprehensive perspective of how differing regional practices can greatly affect this process. I’m honored to be acknowledged for my role on the committee” Gentille founded his firm, PCNA Consulting Group, in 2009. PCNA Group is a Las Vegas based fire-protection engineering firm dedicated to provide Code Consulting, Fire Protection Engineering, ADA/Accessibility Analysis, and permit support services. He has successfully managed the firm’s growth into the second-largest dedicated fire-protection engineering firm in Nevada.
Gentille’s area of expertise focuses on assisting architects and developers to achieve full design compliance for both new and renovation commercial projects. His industry involvement includes an extensive history of participation in the code adoption process on both a local and national scale. His past service includes; Secretary of the 2009 SNBO (Southern Nevada Building Officials), member of the ICC National Sub-committee on housing provisions for the 2009 ANSI/ICC A117.1 (Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities) and member of the 2012 Indiana State Department of Homeland Security – Code Adoption Committee.
