RENO, Nev. – Steven Gregurek, MD, has joined United Blood Services as medical director. United Blood Services, this area’s nonprofit blood service provider, helps organizations and volunteer blood donors make a difference in their communities and provides patients with a safe, dependable blood supply.
Dr. Gregurek will work closely with area hospitals to keep them updated on current issues in transfusion medicine as well as United Blood Services’ continuing education initiatives and quality management support services.
Board certified in clinical pathology and in transfusion medicine and blood banking by the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Gregurek spent the past two years as the blood bank medical director and director of transfusion medicine and blood banking at multiple hospitals in the Las Vegas area. He also served as a contract medical director on call for the Indiana Blood Center since 2009. Dr. Gregurek served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Harvard University and his medical degree from Wayne State University. He completed a pediatric internship at Wilford Hall Medical Center and his clinical pathology residency at Ball Memorial Hospital. Dr. Gregurek also completed a blood banking and transfusion medicine fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
