McMullen And Ross Move To Porter Gordon Silver

Porter Gordon Silver, a full service government affairs and strategic business consulting company, is pleased to announce that Samuel P. McMullen and George A. Ross will be joining the firm in its Las Vegas office. In addition, McMullen will join as a shareholder of Gordon Silver Ltd.

McMullen concentrates his practice in governmental law, strategic positioning, lobbying and political strategy. He represents business and political clients for maximum positive effect in legal and strategic positioning, governmental relations and public affairs. McMullen has worked with multiple governmental and regulatory agencies including gaming, state and local taxation, licensing and permitting, insurance, health, utility, environmental, energy, land use and planning, among others. He has vast experience in initiative and referendum law and litigation, campaign and election law and practices, political contributions, and PAC laws and regulation.

Previously, McMullen was president of The McMullen Strategic Group, ran his own law firm, was executive director of the Northern Nevada Gaming Industry Association (1990-1998), and was the vice president of governmental affairs at Harrah’s Strategic Group (1986-1990). He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.S. from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has been named a Best Lawyer in America from 2011-2014, and one of Nevada’s Most Influential Citizens in 2010.

Ross has over 35 years of experience and understanding of business, financial, legislative, and governmental and public policy issues. He has lobbied at the Nevada Legislature since 1989, and has also represented a variety of clients before the Clark County Commission. Ross’ clients have included companies and organizations in energy, healthcare, banking, pharmaceuticals, tort reform, tobacco, gaming, manufacturing, construction and general business among others.

Previously, Ross served as vice president/chief operating officer of The McMullen Strategic Group, worked as a vice president at Cerrell Associates, and worked for over 25 years with the Atlantic Richfield Co. (ARCO) in leadership positions in economics, profit planning and analysis, and government relations. His stint with ARCO included 12 years of managing state and local government relations in the southwestern United States, as well as managing critical policy issues and a team of contract state lobbyists nationwide. Ross received his B.A. from Dartmouth College where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

McMullen and Ross will join the rest of the PGS team which include the Honorable Jon Porter, Sean Higgins, Bob Cochran, Mike Sullivan, Brett Scolari, and Dan Mauer in Nevada and Washington, D.C.
