How did you first get into your profession?
After I graduated from the university in Brazil, I developed a passion for hospitality because I could have a career working and traveling around the world, learn about new cultures and meet new people. After being laid off from my job, I realized that it was the time to pursue a dream that was brewing for 10 years.

What business advice would you give someone just starting in your industry?
Live your dream! But do your research first. Write a solid business plan, have passion, be determined, have guts and have the funds.

What is the worst criticism you have overcome?
When I arrived in America in 1980, as a Latin immigrant, it was very difficult back then. I had to overcome the culture barrier, language, work twice as hard as others and had to prove myself several times to everyone that I was ready to be promoted. It was a tough run at the American corporate world, but I conquered it!
