Final Winners announced for Nevada State Bank’s “Beautiful Nevada” essay contest: Schools win $5,000 – Students win iPad® Minis

Nevada State Bank is proud to announce the winners of its “Beautiful Nevada” Essay Contest for public school students throughout the state.Las Vegas – Nevada State Bank is proud to announce the winners of its “Beautiful Nevada” Essay Contest for public school students throughout the state. Winning students received an iPad Mini and their schools each received $5,000.

The essay contest, open to all Nevada public school students from kindergarten to 12th grade, asked entrants to answer the question, “What Makes Nevada Beautiful to You?” Winners were chosen from school districts throughout the state (three in Northern Nevada and three in Southern Nevada) with divisions for students in kindergarten through 5th grade, 6th grade through 8th grade and 9th grade through 12th grade.

The winning southern Nevada essays are:

  • Fiona Mobley, 5th grade, Manse Elementary School, Pahrump
  • Perri McGillivray, 7th grade, Cadwallader Middle School, Las Vegas
  • Skye Maynard, 12th grade, Foothill High School, Henderson

“We’re proud to provide this opportunity for students to show their Nevada pride and to share their own insight into the beauty of Nevada,” said Sandi Milton, senior vice president of marketing communications for Nevada State Bank. “With the bank’s 54th anniversary and the approaching Nevada sesquicentennial, it’s a great time to reflect on what our state offers and the many ways people, especially our children, find beauty in Nevada.”

Milton said Nevada State Bank believes in the importance of education and the difference it makes in the community. The bank continually strives to volunteer and invest in the future of the state’s children, supporting numerous education-related programs and charities statewide.

Recognition and winner announcements began on Wednesday, February 26 naming the following three winners for the northern region:

  • Zoē Clark, 4th grade, Silver Lake Elementary School, Reno
  • Elizabeth Armstrong, 8th grade, Spring Creek Middle School, Spring Creek
  • Alex Hayes, 12th grade, The Davidson Academy of Nevada, Reno
