Las Vegas — Clark County School District’s Virtual High School and Academy for Individualized Study announced that the schools have a new official name – Nevada Learning Academy @ CCSD – which was approved by the Clark County School District Board.

Additionally, school officials have announced that for the first time, middle school-age children will soon be able to enroll in the online academy. A full curriculum of junior high school level courses will be available beginning the fall semester of 2014.

“We are very pleased to share the news of our updated name that better reflects our educational offerings as well as the addition for the first time of middle school level curriculum,” said Jesse Welsh, academic manager of CCSD’s Innovative Learning Environments. “We have wonderful programs that give high school and middle school students a variety of options at CCSD. Whether they just like the flexibility of online classes, may be unable to attend more traditional classes, or travel due to sports programs or their career, they can turn to online learning to meet their educational goals.“

ABOUT NEVADA LEARNING ACADEMY @ CCSD

The Nevada Learning Academy @ CCSD is Nevada’s premiere online academy, serving high school students from 6th through 12th grades. Courses are offered on a full- and part-time basis and are designed to meet the needs of students seeking opportunities for honors and advanced placement courses, those seeking the flexibility of schedule offered by online classes, better one-on-one student-teacher feedback, or those facing challenges that make attending a traditional brick-and-mortar school difficult.

Clark County School District’s Academy for Individualized Study High School also now falls under the umbrella of NvLA@CCSD. The program made the transition to online courses for the 2013-14 school year and offers students an alternative online learning experience where course work is completed at their own pace. Through open enrollment, students can begin coursework any time in the school year. More information on the programs can be accessed atwww.ccsdde.net or by calling (702) 855-8435.
