LAS VEGAS – HealthCare Partners Nevada, a leading physician-run network of primary, specialty and urgent care providers in Southern Nevada, announced three of its nurses received awards at the prestigious 2013 Nurse of the Year event, recently hosted by the March of Dimes in Las Vegas.
The annual event, which also serves as a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, honors exceptional Southern Nevada nurses for their professional accomplishments and contributions to the region’s health care system. Approximately 700 nurses across the region were nominated for awards in approximately 25 categories, including the distinguished Nurse of the Year award.
Patti Berry, chief nursing officer with HealthCare Partners, received the prestigious Nurse of the Year award, honoring her broad impact on the nursing field throughout her decades of service. An individual must have at least 15 years of experience working in the nursing profession in Southern Nevada to be eligible for the award.
Jamie Simmons, LPN with HealthCare Partners, also won the Managed Care category. Judith Stephens, RN with HealthCare Partners, was named runner-up in the Managed Care category.
“This recognition from the March of Dimes reflects the commitment of all medical professionals at HealthCare Partners to provide the highest quality of care for all our patients,” said Dr. Amir Bacchus, chief medical officer of HealthCare Partners. “To receive the Nurse of the Year award is an incredible distinction, which Patti has certainly earned with her passionate service throughout the years.”
Berry has worked in the nursing industry for nearly 40 years. She is responsible for all nursing and medical management within HealthCare Partners, and applies her versatile leadership skills to help transition patients throughout the continuum of care. Berry serves as a strong proponent of HealthCare Partners’ Total Care Model, an innovative approach to health care in which physicians, nurses and other medical professionals work as a coordinated team to manage all aspects of patients’ care and overall health.
This year’s Nurse of the Year event raised more than $150,000 for the March of Dimes, which offers mothers support for having full-term pregnancies and researches issues that threaten infants’ health.
The Nurse of the Year event utilizes corporate sponsors to support the region’s nurses and also provide funds to further the mission of the March of Dimes. HealthCare Partners served as a corporate sponsor this year and donated $7,000. Over the past three years, HealthCare Partners has donated approximately $20,000 to the March of Dimes through this event.
