Windermere Real Estate to Support Homeless Youth Organization with Community Service Day Project, $6,800 Grant

HENDERSON, Nev. – Windermere Real Estate announced the organization’s Southern Nevada locations have selected Street Teens, a nonprofit dedicated to serving homeless and at-risk youths in the Las Vegas Valley, as the beneficiary of the company’s annual Community Service Day project.

The real estate firm’s three local offices will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 18, when approximately 50 Windermere agents and staff members will volunteer to refurbish the Street Teens facility at 5599 S. Pecos Road in Las Vegas. The community service project will include repainting the facility’s rooms, installing and stocking shelves, creating signage and landscaping the property. Larry and Megan Huegel, the owners of California Closets Las Vegas, have partnered with Windermere to design a number of storage areas for Street Teens.

“Windermere takes great pride in supporting compassionate organizations that make a significant difference in our community, and this is a nonprofit that serves our area’s most vulnerable population,” said Robyn Yates, owner/broker of Windermere Prestige Properties. “Windermere is thrilled to assist Street Teens during this year’s Community Service Day project.”

Street Teens is a volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to assisting homeless, abandoned and at-risk youths, ages 12 to 21, in the Las Vegas Valley. The organization’s primary goal is to meet the survival needs of the community’s youths by providing basic necessities in a safe, compassionate environment. The organization’s drop-in center provides meals, clothing, employment assistance and housing referrals.

In addition, the Windermere Foundation, the company’s charitable foundation, has chosen to award its annual grant to Street Teens.

Every year since 1984, Windermere associates have donated a work day to volunteer in neighborhood improvement projects. The company selects its annual projects from applications submitted by nonprofits and philanthropic organizations. Windermere also awards an annual grant to valuable community organizations that apply for the support. The grant is funded by community donations and agents of the local Windermere offices who donate a portion of every commission to the Windermere Foundation.

“As a community-focused company, we strive to ensure every dollar donated and every hour spent volunteering makes a difference,” said Di Redman, owner/broker of Windermere Anthem Hills. “We look forward to supporting valuable community organizations and projects for years to come.”
