‘Toys for Tapas’ Donation Drive Spreads Good Cheer This Holiday Season to Foster Children

To make this holiday season a little brighter for children in need, Firefly Tapas & Kitchen Bar announced a toy drive called “Toys for Tapas.”(Las Vegas)— In an effort to make this holiday season a little brighter for children in need, Firefly Tapas & Kitchen Bar announced it is spearheading a toy drive called “Toys for Tapas.” The drive, which will run Nov. 1 through Dec. 20, will benefit foster children, including children at Child Haven.

Firefly will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at all three Firefly locations:

  • Paradise - 3824 Paradise Rd., Las Vegas
  • Summerlin – 9560 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas
  • Anthem – 11261 S.  Eastern Ave., Henderson

The toys will be donated directly to the Clark County Department of Family Services and the foster children in their care. In exchange for each toy donation, patrons will be rewarded for their generosity with one free Tapas of the day or a voucher for a glass of Sangria, good through Jan 31, 2014.

“For most children, the holiday season is an exciting time of the year, but for some of our children it can be very difficult,” said Clark County Department of Family Services Director Lisa Ruiz-Lee.   “We appreciate the Firefly Tapas Kitchen and Bar’s desire to ensure that our children receive the support of our community through these generous donations.”

There are approximately 3,000 children in the Clark County foster care system, ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers. Most of the children simply need a place to reside temporarily before they are returned to their biological families. A lot of these children spend the holidays alone with little to look forward to. The excitement of unwrapping a present and the joy of receiving a gift is something everyone should experience.
