#1DollarOfficeSpace Provides a Home to Tech Startups

Las Vegas – The Glenn Group, a Nevada-based marketing and innovation agency, has chosen two lucky tech startups to join their collective office space as a result of #1DollarOfficeSpace, a unique application process held in the month of August for a tech startup to rent office space in downtown Las Vegas for $1 a month for a year. The startups chosen include Record Setter and Computers for a Cause.

A total of 16 entries were received, all searching for a new home to bring their startup to life. Submissions included entries from as far away as Panama, ranging from non-profits to ecommerce retailers.

“The quality of the submissions we received, ideas behind the companies and the caliber of people we interviewed blew us away,” said B.C. LeDoux, president, executive creative director and partner of The Glenn Group. “It made it very hard to narrow down the field.”

LeDoux continued, “Ultimately we decided on two that really reflect our personality as a company. One, Record Setter, that’s all about imagination and fun, and the other, Computers for a Cause, with a mission to better the community.”

Record Setter, a website that allows users to create their own world records, will share The Glenn Group’s space. The “new home of world records”, whose mission is to raise the bar of human achievement through world records, believes that everyone can be the world's best at something. Records can be submitted by anyone, and must be quantifiable, breakable and include sufficient media evidence. For more information about Record Setter, visit http://recordsetter.com/.

Computers for a Cause, who will now be able to expand operations from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, is a non-profit committed to transforming unwanted or inoperative computers and electronics into operational, educational tools for the millions in need. The organization, which offers their services free of charge, believes there is untapped talent that needs the opportunity and proper tools to innovate in a digital age. By participating in progressive ewaste management, businesses can think reuse before recycling when it comes to electronics, and do some good by donating their unwanted electronics. The two startups chosen will be housed within The Glenn Group’s office, located at Holsum Lofts, the former bakery, in burgeoning downtown Las Vegas. While The Glenn Group primarily occupies the space, they’ve created a collective environment that is also home to agency partners Abe Froman Productions, a video production company, Greg Anderson Photography, Social Office Suite, a real-time brand management platform, and Drinkboard, an app startup focused on gifting.

For consideration, applicants were required to submit an original video via Instagram portraying why they should move into the $1 office space. The 15-second videos were then judged by a well-known panel of tech professionals and stakeholders in downtown Las Vegas.
