United Blood Services of Las Vegas
Making a Difference in the Community event
Find the hero in you and give blood at United Blood Services this Labor Day weekend! United Blood Services of Las Vegas (UBS) is teaming up with Three Square Food Bank, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and The Adventuredome Theme Park for a special Making a Difference in the Community event.
In addition to setting a goal of collecting 300 units of blood during the two-day event, UBS encourages community members to donate non-perishable food items to benefit Three Square Food Bank. Contributions will be accepted at each of the three Southern Nevada UBS donation centers.
Blood donors at this event will receive a free T-shirt and a buy one, get one free all-day ride pass coupon to The Adventuredome Theme Park at Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. The first 150 blood donors will also receive a gift card for a free box meal at Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
As Southern Nevada’s community blood provider, UBS relies on blood donations to make sure blood is available for anyone who needs it. This is especially important during holiday weekends, when there is typically an increased demand. UBS currently has a need for O negative blood, the universal blood type and the only type that can be transfused to patients with different blood types.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment and can do so by calling 877-827-4376 or by visiting www.unitedbloodservices.org/LV. Donors can also visit www.unitedbloodservices.org/HealthHistory to complete an online health history questionnaire prior to visiting any UBS blood drive. This questionnaire often saves time for donors, as it provides UBS with valuable information that is typically gathered during the in-person interview process at mobile blood drives and donation centers. The questionnaire must be completed on the same day as the blood donation.
