According to Stephanie Dixon, executive director of Summerlin Yoga, who is organizing the class, yin involves passive stretching and focusing on one’s breath along with holding postures for four to five minutes. “Yin is a great class for all levels, from beginner to more advanced,” she said.
Those interested should bring a mat and water. There is no set fee for the class but donations are welcome.
Wayne Bunker Park is located on the corner of Tenaya Way and Alexander Road in Las Vegas. The class will be offered on the Alexander side, near the children’s playground and restroom. Free parking is available.
Summerlin Yoga, formerly known as Bikram Summerlin, continues to specialize in hot yoga, practiced at temperatures of more than 100 degrees and 40 percent humidity to promote wider range of motion. Besides traditional hot yoga and hot pilates, the studio’s classes now include Vinyasa, “Revitalize,” Invigorate-Equanimity, YinFused, Kettlebells in the Park, 26 and Tru Barefoot BootCamp, among others.
