HENDERSON, Nev. Henderson International School, a private preschool through 8th-grade college preparatory school, announced it began the 2013-2014 school year with two new administrators, lower school Principal John Heffron and middle school Principal Christopher Bezsylko.
Heffron, as lower school principal, oversees faculty, drives enrollment and supports general education for kindergarten through 4th grade students. Bezsylko, as middle school principal, manages staff and the pedagogical direction for classes in 5th through 8th grade. Both of the experienced educators are joining the Henderson International School team as a result of the private school’s innovative curriculum, which teaches academics alongside the arts and nurtures a global worldview, preparing students to be the next world leaders.
Heffron boasts a vast background in education. He previously served teaching and administration roles in prominent Los Angeles schools, including Wilton Place Elementary, Green Dot Public Schools and Center Street Elementary. He earned an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Education degree from National University in Cross Cultural Teaching and a Master of Administration degree in educational leadership from California State University, Northridge.
Bezsylko brings 17 years of experience in teaching, consulting and administration to Henderson International. Prior to joining the private school, he served as division dean, director of enrollment and marketing and assistant head of school at two California schools. Bezsylko earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from West Chester University, as well a Master of Administration in private school leadership from the Klingenstein Center Teachers College, Columbia University.
“Henderson International strives to provide its students with passionate, highly experienced educators and administrators,” said Sharice Lance, managing director of Henderson International School. “Christopher and John have both earned sterling reputations in their diverse educational careers and they will surely play key roles in preparing our children for promising futures.”
Henderson International also gained new leadership last year with the appointment of Seth Ahlborn as headmaster. Ahlborn has been successful in heading student enrollment, teacher recruitment and community outreach programs and expects to continue this success while working alongside the new administrators.
