(Las Vegas) – Vegas PBS announced today that Sandi Wachtel has been appointed Ready To Learn Project Facilitator for the television station. In her new position, Wachtel will be responsible for facilitating Ready To Learn outreach programs and activities, including family workshops focusing on literacy, health, and mathematics in public and private schools and in the community.
Wachtel has seventeen years of experience in early literacy, family literacy and community program management. She has taught every grade from preschool to college, most recently serving as a middle school learning strategist before joining Vegas PBS. In her education career, she was selected to present for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) conference on developmentally appropriate practice and integrating art and literacy in the home. The design of the class was inspired by her personal research on the positive effects developmentally appropriate practice during the Pre-K years has on later literacy achievement.
Wachtel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Production, a Master’s Degree in Literacy and Technology and an elementary teaching endorsement.
