Las Vegas – Cobalt Data Centers announced today that experienced data center executive, Mark Hansen, has been appointed vice president of operations and security for the company. In his new position, Hansen will be responsible for day-to-day operational issues and for the physical security of the company’s facility.
Prior to joining Cobalt, Hansen served as director of operations and security for Global Cash Access, creating and managing an industry specific customer facing network and associated technology. He was also responsible for the physical and cyber security of the business. Before Global Cash Access, Hansen served as chief technology officer of MarquisNet, a local colocation company.
Before coming to Las Vegas, Mark was the general manager and director of operations at the eXchange at 200 Paul, a 420,000 s.f. data center in San Francisco. He was also director of technology at Santa Clara California-based data center operator Globix.
In addition to his extensive technology background, Hansen has many years experience in law enforcement and in emergency services. Hansen graduated from the police academy at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, Calif. He holds certificates in: Intermediate Terrorism Liaison fromthe Nevada Department of Public Safety Investigation Division; Protective Measures from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Surveillance Detection for Commercial Operators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; and OpValTRVA — Operational Value of Threat, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment from theU.S. Department of Homeland Security. Hansen also has memberships in ASIS, InfraGard and International Association of Law Enforcement Analysts.
